CDS Notification 2024 : The UPSC released the CDS 1 2024 Notification on its official website. The CDS exam is conducted twice a year and interested candidates eagerly await the CDS Notification. The Commission declared 457 vacancies this time, candidates can apply for the CDS 1 2024 exam from 20th December 2023 to 9th January 2024. Before applying candidates are advised to thoroughly check the eligibility criteria mentioned by the UPSC organization.

CDS exam covers three academies that is Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA) and Air Force Academy (AFA).

UPSC CDS 1 2024 Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
20 to 24 years (as of July 01, 2023). The detailed age limit will be mentioned in the official notification PDF
Education Qualification
- For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy: Graduation degree (any subject) from a recognized University or equivalent
- For Indian Naval Academy: Graduation in Engineering from a recognized University/Institution
- For Air Force Academy: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering
Marital Status & Gender
- For Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy: Only unmarried males are eligible.
- For Indian Air Force Academy: Both married and unmarried males can apply, but marriage during training is not permitted.
- For Officer Training Academy: Unmarried males & females can apply.
CDS Recruitment 2024 Selection Process
Candidates must first qualify in the written examination which is MCQ type. The time allowed and the maximum marks allotted to each subject will be as follows:
(A) For admission to IMA, INA and AFA

Document Verification: Selected candidates must submit their original documents for verification to check educational qualification, age proof etc.
Medical Examination: Candidates who clear the interview test, then they have to give medical examination conducted by Military Hospital to check their fitness.
Final Merit List: The final selection is based on the candidate’s performance in written exam, interview test and medical exam. After the Final list prepared candidates are allotted seats in the respective academics based on their rank and preferences.
